About Me:
I'm here to meet fellow boaters and water recreation enthusiasts for networking, friends, a find out your likes/dislikes in activities, and destinations (resorts/marinas). I'm the Marketing Director for Green Turtle Bay Resort in Grand Rivers, KY. Founded in 1984, Green Turtle Bay has grown from a small marina to a full scale destination resort (the largest marina and resort on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes) and voted a favorite stop by the Great Loopers. The gateway to over 200,000 acres of cruising waters, it features more than 70 rental condominiums, two outdoor swimming pools, tennis court, children's playgrounds, conference center, sand beach, and two restaurants - Dockers Bayside Grille and Commonwealth Yacht Club. In addition to the resort amenities, Green Turtle Bay marina is the home of 700 pleasure vessels, a large boat repair facility, ship's store, boat and personal watercraft rentals, and yacht sales department. The construction of a health club with indoor pool, fitness center and spa will be completed in early 2008.

Likes:
Our "Water Way of Life"! We love beautiful Barkley and Kentucky Lakes and all the exciting recreational opportunities they have to offer. We enjoy crazy theme parties, our annual Commonwealth Cup Regatta, 2 annual boat shows, delicious food, huge fireworks displays and live music, family oriented events, and serve it all up with a generous dose of southern hospitality.
Hobbies:
Boating, family events, waterskiing, boarding and tubing, relaxing on our sand beach, swimming in the lake or our two outdoor pools, feeding the turtles, biking and walking on our walking trail, listening to live music, parades, watching our huge fireworks displays, visiting nearby Land Between the Lakes and shopping nearby antique stores and boutiques, catching a show at our town's Branson Style theatre.
Vices:
None I want to tell! LOL
Funny: I'm a die hard high heel lover and wear them 99% of the time. They do have a habit of getting stuck in the slits in the docks, so I have started keeping my flops in the office for easy access!
Virtues:
I have a good way of getting along with people from all walks of life.

What good luck! Rolex Middle Sea Race
Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 09:30 PM CST
[General]
Two members of our Commonwealth Yacht Club in good 'ol Kentucky traveled to watch the world class Rolex Middle Sea Race to gain knowledge for our own annual Commonwealth Cup Regatta. Because of bad weather, two crew members of one of the entrants could not make it in for the race, and as luck would have it, our guys were asked to crew. They have pretty dramatic stories to tell, what with BEING MAROONED ON SICILY FOR THREE DAYS! Following is the press release: Valetta, Malta - October 24, 2007: The Commonwealth Yacht Club (CYC) located at the Green Turtle Bay Resort in Grand Rivers, Kentucky was represented at the 2007 Rolex Middle Sea Race hosted by The Royal Malta Yacht Club, Valetta, Malta. Kim Ketter, Commodore of the CYC and Virgil "Butch" Jones, Rear Commodore, served as crew aboard the Maltese S.Y. Escape which began the race the morning of 20 October. Escape, along with 37 other entrants was forced to retire from the race due to bad weather.
The race was won in record time by the United States yacht, Rambler, a 90' water ballasted Reicher-Pugh designed Super Maxi from the New York Yacht Club. In doing so, Rambler, skippered by Ken Read has taken over 16 hours off the previous course record set by Zephyrus IV, another United States yacht, in 2000. The Rolex Middle Sea Race is one of the three largest yacht races in the world which are the "triple crown" of yacht racing including the Rolex Fastnet and the Rolex Sydney-Hobart races. The 2007 Rolex Middle Sea Race (www.rolexmiddlesearace.com) was characterized by bad weather, forcing 38 of the 57 boats who started the race to drop-out without finishing. Most were able to find shelter and ride out the storm. Loki, an Australian entrant, lost her rudder and was abandoned. All of Loki's crew were airlifted to safety by the Italian Coast Guard. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
